Preparing for Your Maternity Photo Session
Pregnancy is one of the most unique and special moments in a woman’s life. And you definitely want to remember this special time during your pregnancy.
I’ve provided some helpful suggestions below when preparing for your session day
Location
First, you need to decide whether you want a studio session or an outdoor shoot. If you are not sure what to choose, then write me down a message and I will help you.
When to Book Your Maternity Photo Shoot
I suggest scheduling your maternity session when you are between 27 to 32 weeks pregnant. In this period
your belly is beautifully rounded but you are still comfortable enough for posing.
(For moms carrying multiples, 25 to 30 weeks is recommended).
What to wear for a Maternity photoshoot
For my clients I provide a wardrobe that is loaded with dresses and bodysuits available to use during the session.
You are also welcome to bring your own, especially if you have other ideas or any clothing pieces or accessories. The popular option include jeans and a white T-shirt or white shirt.
I recommend wearing something that makes you feel beautiful and confident — this can be dressy or casual
It`s better to choose comfortable fabrics like soft jersey knits, lace, chiffon,
cotton, or silk. Try to avoid something that will hide or flatten your belly. Avoid really bold patterns.
It’s also important not to forget to bring appropriate underwear. If you are
planning to have any shots in underwear only, I’d recommend that you
bring a nice set with lace or textures. For my dresses I recommend to bring a simple plain set in
white and black. Look at the example at the picture below.

Also, if you are bringing your other kids to the shoot, let me know. I`ll help you to pick the right clothes for them if they will be in the photos.
Your partner should stick with something neutral like jeans or chinos with a solid colored shirt (such as a button-down or V-neck). I
usually recommend women go bare foot unless you have a great pair of
shoes that still fits and are comfortable.
Footwear on your partner will also be on display in most photos, so make sure you match accordingly.

Makeup
I recommend professional makeup and hair. You will feel beautiful and confident
at your session.
But if you want to do makeup by yourself, pay attention to this recommendations.
Professional cameras tend to wash out the makeup by at least 50%. That’s why it’s better to add more colour to your cheeks and lips than usual. Use bright colors for your lips, as natural hues and nude tones are hard to capture on camera. You may also add some lip gloss
Schedule a manicure and pedicure (if you’ll be wearing open toed shoes). Because your hands will be in every image so we want them looking fabulous! Neutral colors are always flattering in photos.
Try to relax and enjoy this time. Don’t worry about needing to know what to do, or how to pose, I’ll guide you through the process.
